How GeoDigg handles information
GeoDigg is a public local news and community platform organized by place. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and the choices you have.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
Scope
This policy covers geodigg.com pages, forms and features. GeoDigg is part of the SpiderTaz Network. Other network sites, news publishers and third-party websites linked from GeoDigg have their own policies.
Browsing GeoDigg
You can read GeoDigg without an account. Like most websites, our hosting servers keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser, requested page, referring page and time) to operate, secure and troubleshoot the site.
Stories on GeoDigg link to the original news articles and notices. When you follow one of those links, you leave GeoDigg and the publisher's own policies apply.
Your location
GeoDigg organizes stories by place, not by tracking you. GeoDigg does not ask for your device's location and does not collect a precise location for visitors. The places you see are the places a story is about, matched from the reports themselves.
If GeoDigg later offers features such as "near me" or local interest signals, they will be optional, will use only approximate areas, and will never publish where you are. This policy will be updated before any such feature is offered.
Accounts
GeoDigg has no separate accounts or passwords. You sign in on SpiderTaz with your SpiderTaz Network account, and SpiderTaz tells GeoDigg who you are. While you are signed in, GeoDigg keeps your network account number and display name in its session. GeoDigg also keeps what its features need: your community reports and photos, your digs and the problem reports you send. GeoDigg never sees or keeps your password.
If you are signed in when you use the contact form, your message is linked to your network account so it can be answered there.
Community reports, votes and comments
Community reports and the photos you add to them are public once published. They show your SpiderTaz Network display name and are labeled as community reports. You choose the city a report is about; GeoDigg does not use your device location. A new member's first three reports are reviewed before they appear.
Photos are re-encoded when you upload them, which removes hidden data such as camera details and any location stored in the file. The original file is not kept. Photos are stored privately and shown only with their published report.
Digs (votes) are stored with your network account number so each member counts once and you can undo a dig. GeoDigg shows only the total, never who dug a story. Problem reports you send are seen only by moderators. GeoDigg keeps a record of moderation decisions (what was done, by whom and when).
Before you share a photo or report, make sure it does not reveal private information about other people, such as faces of bystanders in sensitive situations, license plates or home addresses. GeoDigg may blur, generalize or withhold an exact location when publishing it could put someone at risk.
Contact requests
The contact form stores your name, email, subject, message, the reason you chose, your browser's user-agent and the page it was sent from, in the SpiderTaz Network's shared support ticket system so the request can be answered. Contact requests do not store your IP address.
How information is used
- Show local stories and the sources behind them.
- Respond to contact, correction and removal requests.
- Operate, secure, debug and improve the site.
- Prevent spam, abuse, fraud and attacks.
- Keep records of corrections and moderation decisions.
Retention and security
GeoDigg keeps information as long as reasonably needed for the site, records, security, legal obligations, dispute handling and backups. GeoDigg uses reasonable safeguards, but no website or transmission is perfectly secure; do not submit sensitive information that is not needed.
Children
GeoDigg is not intended for children under 13. Do not submit personal information about a child. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so it can be reviewed and removed.
Your choices
You can read GeoDigg without submitting anything and keep only the essential cookie. You can ask us to correct or remove information you provided, or a story that is wrong about you, where legally and technically reasonable. Some records may be kept for security, legal, backup or abuse-prevention purposes.
Changes and contact
This policy will change as GeoDigg adds features. The date above shows the latest revision.
